Why Can't You Find It?

If ten items are lost, nine of them will be found simply be diligent searching. The tenth one on the other hand seems to have just disappeared. It hasn't but there is an explanation. Most people contact me with their story and I go to work. What I hear most often after the item is found is, "How can that be?" That is because what is thought to have happen didn't and something else did. The ring bounced off something, was lost earlier or later than thought, was moved/stepped on/ caught in or on something. I always start where the loss was thought to have occurred but very often I expand the search area or look somewhere else. That's when we find the lost item.
